Tropical forests around the globe disappear at alarming rates. Protecting them and revercing deforestation is critical to avoid global warming and a disastrous depletion of plants and animals. Tropical forests and other land based climate solutions can provide almost one third of the emission reductions needed to keep global warming below 1.5 degrees over the next 15 years.
Yet, these solutions only receive 3% of global climate funding.
Norway´s International Climate and Forest Initiative - NICFI - has pledged up to 3 billion NOK a year to help save the world's tropical forests while improving the livelihoods of those who life off, in, and near the forests.
